THE BROOKLYN APARTMENT

This Brooklyn apartment represents one of the many international collaborations undertaken by K2India and KoKo by K2India. Designed for a family of five—including Lucie, the star of the shoot—the home balances architectural restraint with warmth and character. While the client collaborated with a local architect to navigate New York’s rigorous town- planning regulations and to preserve unobstructed views of the Brooklyn skyline, our work began with planning the furniture layout. Once key functional elements—storage, the bar and the television—were positioned, we curated and customised pieces that aligned with the architectural vocabulary and established colour palette.
Spatial optimisation is central to any New York renovation. The Laila Sideboard in the main hall, adapted in pyrite and black resin, anchors the long wall while keeping the circulation open, as per the client’s brief. A pair of lightweight chairs are oriented towards the skyline and can be removed entirely when larger gatherings take place. The dining area features similarly light chairs around a pedestal table, further enhancing flexibility and ease of movement.
In the master bedroom, a multifunctional headboard faces the skyline and integrates lighting, electricals and a slim ledge in place of bedside tables. A work desk sits directly behind it, maximising efficiency. The guest room doubles as a study, with custom filing, storage and discreet heating integrated along the windows—an approach that maintains clarity while addressing every functional need.
